Experiences at Interlake

So, here are just a few images to whet your apatite about your next visit to this little corner of the northwest. We'll add more to this site when YOU help us by providing a photogenic model to grace the foreground. When can you join us for a little photoshoot?

Here's a typical, beautiful, Serbian woman enjoying her first magazine change with a CZ75, on our lower pistol range. Notice the correct orientation of the weapon, index finger outside the guard, her complete control over the operation, and her slightly bent knees with good balance. This range is about 30' wide and up to about 40yds long, and accommodates all from a family outing to a team of professionals. As with all ISA ranges, this facility is outdoors with natural lighting, rain protection over a firing line and target carriers, and has been successfully used for decades.

Here she is, again, finding that a Detonics CombatMaster Mk VI fits her hand, perfectly. Notice that the pistol range is bordered on one side by a tall hillside with native vegetation all round, adding to the secluded, natural appearance of this range. (you thought we were going to ask you to notice her non-American style of dress, the lace, or the 'handcuffs' around her hips, didn't you?). The rifle range, out to 200yds, is even more beautiful. Our native deer and their fawns like to eat the flowers and berries on the rifle range, and are nearly tame since no-one bothers them, here.

Some much less attractive, but extremely valuable and useful, males doing construction on the upper pistol range. ISA is a volunteer operated and maintained facility, the members have completely built the entire facility and do all the work. This upper range is surrounded by impact berms on 3 sides, is about 80' wide and over 50 yds long, partially covered with a wheelchair-friendly surface. This range is preferred for competition stages, law-enforcement qualification and training, professional training, and is multi-gun capable. In the future, it will be equipped with remotely-controlled moving targets. This particular range is divided from the rest of the facility by a chain-link fence with locking vehicle gate. Locations for equipment storage containers are available.

Some of the most rewarding professionals to work with are barefoot women... This one was used to a self-loading rifle for field work on another continent, so the transition to a smaller tool was a new experience. All guests and the public are closely supervised by a certified person in charge (PIC), this one loading the next magazine for the operator. Eye and ear protection is always required for everyone on the ranges, of course.

The Seattle University Marksmanship Club has happily used ISA for years, to offer lucky students an opportunity for new experiences. This one had never had a firearm in her hands, before. She found that a Swiss CZ75 and our lower pistol range provided enjoyment and lots of pride in her accomplishment. Like many immigrants, she deeply loves the rights and opportunities this country offers her; now, even more than when she arrived. We are proud of her bravery and accomplishments, and thankful for her participation.

Some chairwomen of history departments of major, national universities are more than they seem, and actually understand the significance of what they read. Some of us have multiple professions, as well, of course. Thanks to ISA, they can maintain their skills and protect their lives, and continue to try to teach the masses. Pity that their understanding and efforts are lost on most of our political leaders.

Perhaps a little pride in accomplishment here, as well, do you think? The movable timber structure in the background is used for 'barricade' practice. Yes, we are tactical...
